About Jean

Dr. Jean Lomino is an educator, author, and the Founder of the Forest School Teacher Institute. She has worked as a classroom teacher, university instructor, and executive director at Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center in Chattanooga. In 2015 she co-founded Wauhatchie School, the first forest kindergarten in Tennessee, and later created the Forest School Teacher Institute to train others. Through her programs she has supported more than one thousand teachers and directors across the United States and abroad.

Jean’s work centers on curiosity, wonder, and community. She believes children can guide us back to our natural bond with the Earth. She lives in Chattanooga and enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family and grandchildren.
